Elide Sulsenti, cellist, was born in Catania on July 15, 1999. She attended the Conservatory G.P da Palestrina in Cagliari, where she graduated in cello in 2019 with top marks and honors, simultaneously completing her classical education with excellent results. In 2019 and 2020, she attended the Chigiana Academy in Siena. In the same year, she was admitted to the cello class of Antonio Meneses at the Walter Stauffer Center for Strings. In January 2020, she was accepted at the Ferenc Listz Academy in Budapest in the class of Miklos Perenyi, where she completed the semester with an "Excellent" rating and top marks in all subjects.

 

She attended many Masterclasses with prominent figures in the music world such as Rocco Filippini, Enrico Dindo, David Geringas, Antonio Meneses, Stephan Popov, Giovanni Gnocchi, Sung Won Yang, Elisabeth Wilson, Sandro Laffranchini, Massimo Polidori, and has perfected her baroque repertoire with Rebeca Ferri.

 

In 2023, she graduated with honors with a Master of Arts in Music Performance from the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, under the guidance of Enrico Dindo. Now she is acheiving a Master's degree in Interpretation of Contemporary Music at the Hochschule Luzern.

 

Active in the field of contemporary music, she recently received the Fritz Gerber Award 2023, dedicated to performers active in the field of contemporary music, assigned by the Fritz Gerber Foundation and Heinz Holliger. Over the years, she has performed numerous premières and worked with composers of various nationalities, such as Swiss composers Helga Arias and Michèle Rusconi, Carlo Boccadoro, Ivan Fedele, Enno Poppe, Salvatore Sciarrino, Daniel Nelson, Missy Mazzoli, Thomas Adès, Luis Fonseca, and she has recently been selected to perform at various specialized festivals in this field, including the Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), Vadstena-Akademien (Sweden), and the Hans Zender Akademie (Germany). As a permanent member of the Ensemble Istantanea in Bologna, she recently recorded an album with the Dash Records label. She has also collaborated in two concerts with pianist Andrea Lucchesini, organized by the Centro Studi Luciano Berio, performing the complete works for solo cello by Luciano Berio.

 

Elide has given concerts at Italian and international festivals as a soloist and chamber musician, such as recently at the Theatre Granit in Belfort (France) in a piano duo, as a soloist for the Contemporary Cello Week within the EstOvest Festival in Turin, as a soloist for the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Salsomaggiore Terme during the "Il suono nella bellezza" festival, where she performed Haydn's Concerto in D major as a soloist with the Musici di Parma orchestra, for the ECMTA in Leiston (England), at the LAC in Lugano for the TicinoMusica festival in 2021 and 2022.

 

As an orchestral musician, she regularly performs with the Teatro Olimpico orchestra in Vicenza, the Colibrì Ensemble in Pescara, and recently with the Ensemble 900 and the Solisti di Pavia.
